Summer safety tips for adults: We know that hot weather could be unsafe for anyone’s health. This is particularly more risky for older adults. In every summer near about 200 Americans die of health troubles caused by over heat and moisture. Most of these persons age is near 50 or older. Hot summer weather is the main cause of health problems for older adults due to the variety of reasons. These reasons include age associated physical changes in the human body, constant health situation, and even side effects of taking some medicines. It’s important to find out when hot summer weather is making you sick, and when is to get help from your physician.
Here is some tips to stay cool in the hot Summer
- Be careful from the summer season’s heat. Pay your attention to it and change your daily activities correctly.
- Pay your attention to hydration status, and always try to drink ample of liquids.
- Always try to stay in comparatively cool areas specially in hot season, even when outside. There are many public places such as shopping malls, libraries and movie theatres are centrally air conditioned.
- Try to avoid hot weather places, such as cars. Never leave your children be present in a car park in the direct sun during day time in the summer season.
- Use a fan, if possible.
- Try to stay in the lowest floor of your building.
- Have the well balanced, light and usual meals especially seasonal vegetables instead of ghee, butter, meat etc.
- Try to wear loose fitting garments, lightweight and light colored garments.
- During day time cover your windows which receive a major amount of sun light with drapes or shades to keep your house cool.
- Cold beverages are the good ideas for cooling down the body and at the same time alcoholic drinks could damage the body’s ability to normalize its temperature.
